IUHS is modeled after the American University System. Each Subject is worth 3 credits and for degree programs each term lasts for 8 weeks. Students are allowed to register up to 6 credits per term. A full time student can complete a Master’s Degree in a year, subject to successful completion of the thesis.

The academic year begins at the beginning of September and ends at the end of August of the following year. Moreover, the average workload for a full time student is around 20 hours per week. Learning is done through a combination of asynchronous online learning through the Moodle software platform, bi-monthly live lectures through video conferencing, reading assignments,recorded lectures, and face to face instruction.

Our campus is located in Escazu, San Jose, Costa Rica and includes two conference halls, one library, dorms, and one research institute. The campus is one mile from the famous "golden mile".

Our Main Campus

Our main campus is located in San Jose’s exclusive Escazu neighborhood. Less than three minutes away from the “Golden Mile” and about ten minutes away from the Intercontinental hotel, its location is very convenient.

Classrooms are well equiped with LCD monitors, surround system, computers, and comfortable tables and chairs. Students also enjoy a beautiful view of the central valley from their classrooms.

Registration

IUHS is registered in the Republic of Costa Rica as an educational institution with the juridical identification  number (cédula juridica) 3-101-616055.

The University has an agreement with  The École Supérieure Internationale de Bruxelles (ÉSIB) to offer double degrees.

That means that holders of IUHS degrees have the option of having either the ESIB issue them equivalent degrees.
